My Favourite Game 4

Nope. Show N Tell has not died a natural death. We're still at it albeit not on an as-frequent basis as this term is packed with holidays and events. We make sure we are at the right pace to finish up the syllabus and revision before we add in the frills.

We had Sabrina for Show N Tell yesterday.

Many children were curious to know how the game, 'Smart Driver', was played and were forthcoming with their questions.

'Something I'm Proud Of' 3 & 'My Favourite Game'

I'm quite surprised to find that our children do not respond very well to the topic 'Something I'm Proud of'. Very few children wanted to do a Show & Tell on it. When I asked them candidly,"Don't you have something you're proud of and would like to share?" They chorused in unison,"Nooooooo ..."

Perhaps our children need a more obvious demonstration of our pride in their works or just something they have drawn or created. It need not be a trophy won from a competition. It could be a story they write in their leisure. It could be a photograph they've taken FOR the family.

Due to the lack of response for the topic, I've changed it to 'My Favourite Game'.

It's been fun listening to the children telling us about their favourite things. I believe their friends get to know them better as well. Although some of the children tend to trail off or become soft in their volume during Show & Tell, they are generally prepared for the session. After the Show & Tell, the audience get to ask 3 questions about the items during the Q&A session. The questions show that the audience were listening, and listening very well at that.

Today's Show & Tell was a smashing success. Xiang Qi and Jeeva came well-prepared. They were all ready to show their friends what their favourite things were. It was clear that they had prepared what they wanted to say in advance. I was totally impressed with their effort and seriousness towards the session. Well done!

The audience were praise-worthy too. They gave due respect to their friends who presented by listening attentively.

The next presenters on the agenda are Athirah and Asyraf. Let's keep our ears peeled on Friday. :)

Show & Tell

Tomorrow will be our first session of Show & Tell!

The theme for our Show & Tell is 'My favourite thing'. We're having two children to kickstart it this week.

I've demonstrated to the children on how it can be done:

• Introduce the item (what it is)
• State the reason on why it is your favourite thing
• State the giver or person who bought it for you
• Other things worth mentioning: when it was bought or given to you, why the giver gave it to you and special features of the thing

Each presentation should last for about 3 to 5 minutes. Please allow your child to bring an item of his or her choice to school. On the side of caution, I've asked the children not to bring expensive items such as PSP or handphones to school. If it so happens that their favourite thing is something expensive, they may want to take a picture of it for the Show & Tell session instead.
