Operation Imaginary Creature

Yesterday, the children were tasked with creating an imaginary creature together as a group.

Before the school closed last term, we had brainstormed together as a class the features of various animals.

This term, the children have to create an imaginary creature based on their choice of habitats, diets, movements. The creature's characteristics and features have to qualify the criteria given to them.

These are our children at work: lots of discussion, brainstorming, exchange of ideas, compromising, negotiation, and above all, cooperation and the willingness to listen to one another's ideas.

Impressive!

A presentation of their imaginary creatures

We had a mini voting session and Turtue - the turtle with trees on its shell, the creation of Group 2 (Zun Hong, Kar Moon, Keng Yee and Jeeva), raked in the most number of votes. Jeeva the presenter would have to take some credit for describing the creature vividly during his presentation.

One of these imaginary creatures will be selected to 'materialise' in three-dimensional form.

Stay tune!

Goodbye Joel!

Joel left us for another school in Woodlands as of 29th June 2009.
He has been a free-spirited boy who speaks his mind without worrying about others' opinion in the class. Always ready to make friends, always cheerful and sprightly, and is full of confidence.
We'll miss you, Joel!

School on Monday & H1N1

I've received queries on whether school will resume on the coming Monday.

As long as the Ministry of Education (MOE) doesn't announce in the news or newspapers that school is closed, we are definitely going to have school as usual on Monday.

I've called up individual parents to keep you informed on a few matters:

1) The school has mailed you (by post) a letter on H1N1 as well as a Travel Declaration Form. It is of paramount importance that parents fill up the Travel Declaration Form and get the children to submit it to me on Monday.

2) All children have to bring their thermometers to school every day.

We're going to take our temperature twice a day: once during the first period and the second temperature-taking will be done 30 minutes after recess. This will be done on a daily basis for the first week at least.

The latest trigger temperature is 37.6 degree celsius (as of today). We'll abide by this temperature during the checks on Monday, unless there is a change in the trigger temperature reading.

Please update yourselves with latest information related to H1N1 at MOH (Ministry of Health) website on a daily basis.

I will also be updating important information that has an impact on our lessons in this blog, so do check this space regularly.
